While June 11 is the scheduled date for the arrival of the monsoon in Bengal, it was expected to arrive earlier since the monsoon reached Kerala ahead of schedule.

According to the weather department, the monsoon has arrived four days ahead of schedule in North Bengal and it is unlikely to reach South Bengal before June 10.
Rain activity will increase in the next 5 days, especially in the five districts including Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Kochbihar and Alipurduar.
The amount of rainfall will increase further from June 6 in North Bengal. There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall in one or two places in Dinajpur. In the case of South Bengal, there is a possibility of scattered light to moderate rains in the next 24 hours, said IMD.
Predicting rainfall activity, IMD wrote, “Intense spell of rainfall over Northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during next 5 days.” (sic)
