Manipur landslide: 24 bodies recovered; 18 rescued, search continues for the missing

A massive landslide hit the company location of 107 Territorial Army of the Indian Army deployed near Tupul railway station in Manipur’s Noney district on Wednesday. A total of 13 territorial army personnel and five civilians have been rescued so far.

Relentless search operations by the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Territorial Army, SDRF and NDRF continue after a after a massive landslide hit the company location of 107 Territorial Army of the Indian Army deployed near Tupul railway station in Manipur’s Noney district. Mortal remains of 24 people, including territorial army personnel and civilians, have been recovered so far.

Fresh teams were deployed today to augment the efforts in the search.

So far, 13 Territorial Army personnel and five civilians have been safely rescued, while the search for other missing persons still continues. The civil administration has cautioned civilians living in downstream areas of the river to take precautions and evacuate due to the likelihood of breach in the dam created on the river by the landslide.

Meanwhile, another landslide hit near the tragedy site at Noney, Manipur, reported news agency ANI.
