An infant died after being bitten by ants in the ward of the Women’s District Hospital in the Mahoba district. The family members staged a protest against the hospital administration.
A three-day-old infant died after being bitten by ants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of the Women’s District Hospital in the Mahoba district, Uttar Pradesh.
The family of the infant staged a protest and blamed the hospital administration for negligence.
Along with this, the family also accused the doctor of taking a bribe of Rs 6,500.
Surendra Raikwar, a resident of Mudhari village of Kulpahar tehsil area, had come with his pregnant wife, Seema, on May 30. She gave birth to a boy. When the newborn became unwell, the doctors admitted him to the Special Neonatal Care Unit.
The relatives had complained about dirt and ants in the ward to the staff and doctors, but no attention was paid to it.
On receiving the information, Kotwali Police and SDM Sadar Jitendra Kumar reached the spot for inspection. Meanwhile, the Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) has ordered an inquiry into the matter.
He said that the matter will be investigated and action will be taken against whoever is guilty.
